Martin Broby

Licensed Psychotherapist –  individuals, couples, children, adolescents and families.
English and Swedish speaking therapist

Martin is a Swedish Licensed Psychotherapist, specializing in child and adolescent psychotherapy with training from the Erica Foundation, Stockholm, Sweden. His therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, incorporating systemic, relational, and cognitive elements. He has worked clinically for 20 years both in Sweden and in Australia. He has additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Child-oriented family therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Dynamic Interpersonal Short Term-Therapy (DIT), and Circle of Security (COS-P). Martin has specialized expertise in child and adolescent development, reflective parenting, and family dynamics.

His education and work experience have provided him with a broad range of techniques across several therapeutic approaches. The combination of curiosity, humor, and a process-oriented style enables the client and Martin to explore paths to well-being together in a safe and professional manner. The sessions are adapted to the client’s needs (for example, child therapy may involve play, drawing, and other forms of expression to work with emotions, thoughts, and relationships).

His work is firmly rooted in evidence-based practice, with a particular focus on the therapeutic relationship as the primary tool. Martin integrates trauma-informed, mentalization-based, systemic, and attachment-based perspectives in his work, together with a strongly collaborative process.
