Johannes Van Damme
Healthcare Psychologist, Individual Therapist
English and Dutch Speaking therapist
My name is Johannes Van Damme. In 2016, I completed my degree in Psychology at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). After graduating, I first worked as a lecturer in higher education and as a trainer/coach in the field of sports psychology. I later transitioned into clinical practice, working primarily in specialized mental health care with clients suffering from medically unexplained symptoms and a broad range of conditions, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, neurodevelopmental disorders, and personality problems.
In 2024, I completed my postgraduate training as a health care psychologist (GZ-psycholoog) at the RINO Group in Utrecht, with a special focus on the therapeutic relationship, body-oriented psychotherapy, and neuropsychological assessment. In addition to my formal training, I have completed courses in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Affect Phobia Therapy, and Schema Therapy.
As a psychologist, I am authentic, caring, transparent, and curious. I have an accessible approach while remaining sharp and analytical, which helps get to the core of the problem. At the same time, I make sure that clients can work on their problems at their own pace. I also believe it is important to incorporate humor into my work, without losing sight of the underlying problems or emotions.
